Traditional Methods vs. Laser Mold Cleaning
Eliminate mold wear and dry ice costs. See why injection and tire molders are switching to laser solutions.
Traditional cleaning methods
❌Sandblasting and mechanical cleaning inevitably wear down mold textures (matte finishes) and round off sharp corners, shortening the mold’s lifespan.
❌ Dry ice blasting requires expensive pellets and difficult storage. Chemical cleaning involves toxic solvents that create hazardous waste disposal issues.
❌ Traditional methods often require molds to be cooled down and disassembled from the machine before cleaning, causing long production halts.
Laser mold cleaning technology
✅ Non-contact laser beams vaporize residues (rubber, silicone, oil) without touching the surface, perfectly preserving complex mold patterns and tolerances.
✅ Operates on electricity alone. No dry ice, no chemicals, and no secondary pollution. Significantly reduces long-term operating costs.
✅ Laser supports hot-mold cleaning. You can clean molds directly on the production line without disassembly, minimizing downtime to minutes.

Stop Burning Money on Consumables & Labor
Protect critical mold geometries and eliminate secondary waste. Our high-precision laser systems deliver the non-destructive cleaning required for injection molding, die-casting, and high-tolerance industrial tooling.
✅Unlike sandblasting or wire brushing, laser cleaning is non-abrasive. It removes carbon deposits, residues, and release agents without altering the mold’s dimensions or damaging fine textures (MT textures).
✅Eliminate the need for cooling, disassembly, and re-heating. Perform targeted cleaning while the mold is still hot and in the machine, significantly increasing production cycles and reducing labor overhead.

FAQ
Will the laser cleaning process damage my mold's surface or textures?
No, it will not. We use Pulse Laser technology (not CW laser) specifically designed for mold cleaning. The laser beam interacts only with the contaminants (rust, oil, residue) and vaporizes them. The underlying metal substrate reflects the light and remains cool and untouched. It is safe for mirror finishes (SPI A1), matte textures (EDM), and complex patterns.
Can I clean molds while they are still hot (online cleaning)?
Yes! This is a major advantage over other methods. Our laser cleaning machines can operate effectively on high-temperature molds directly on the production line. There is no need to wait for the molds to cool down or disassemble them from the injection or vulcanizing machine, significantly reducing downtime.
Does the machine require any consumables like dry ice or sand?
Zero consumables. Unlike dry ice blasting (which requires expensive pellets) or sandblasting (which needs media grit), our laser cleaner operates on electricity only. The only maintenance part is the protective lens on the laser head, which is inexpensive and easy to replace.
What types of residues can it remove?
It is highly effective against a wide range of industrial contaminants found in molding processes, including:
Release agents (Silicone/Wax)
Sulfides and carbon deposits (Rubber/Tire molds)
Thermoplastic residues (PP, PE, PET, ABS)
Rust and oxidation layers
Oil and grease
Is it difficult to operate? Do I need a professional engineer?
The machine is user-friendly and designed for factory workers. We provide preset parameter libraries for common mold materials. After a simple 30-minute training, any operator can handle the cleaning gun safely. For automated lines, we offer standard interface ports for robot integration.
How does laser cleaning compare to dry ice blasting in terms of cost?
While the initial investment for a laser machine is higher, the operating cost is extremely low (approx. $0.50 – $1.00 per hour for electricity). Dry ice blasting has high ongoing costs for ice pellets, storage, and compressed air. Most of our customers achieve ROI (Return on Investment) within 6-12 months solely from saving on dry ice consumables.
