Traditional Cleaning vs. Marine Laser Technology
Eliminate hull damage and environmental pollution. See why leading shipyards and maintenance crews are switching to laser.
The Problems – Traditional Methods
❌Sandblasting and high-pressure water jetting can thin the steel plating and damage sensitive surfaces like propellers or deck equipment.
❌ Chemical treatments involve toxic runoff that harms marine life, leading to expensive waste disposal and strict environmental compliance issues.
❌ Traditional methods often require extensive preparation and containment setup, significantly prolonging dry-dock time and operational costs.
The Solution – Your Laser Machine
✅ Laser beams vaporize rust, paint, and barnacles without touching the surface. Zero damage to the hull steel, preserving the vessel’s structural integrity.
✅ No consumables, no chemicals, no secondary waste. An eco-friendly solution that meets strict IMO regulations and local shipyard standards.
✅ High efficiency enables rapid cleaning of large hull areas or precise spot repairs, drastically reducing dry-dock downtime and labor intensity.

FAQ
Can laser cleaning achieve the Sa 2.5 or Sa 3.0 standards required for ship hulls?
Yes. Our high-power continuous wave (CW) lasers (1500W-3000W) effectively remove heavy rust, anti-fouling paint, and marine growth, exposing the bare metal. By adjusting the scanning width and power, operators can easily achieve Sa 2.5 (Near White Metal) or even Sa 3.0 (White Metal) standards, ensuring perfect adhesion for new coating layers.
Will the laser damage the ship's steel plating or propeller surfaces?
No. Laser cleaning is a non-contact process. The laser energy is absorbed by the rust or paint/coatings but reflected by the substrate material. For sensitive parts like bronze propellers or precision valves, we recommend our Pulsed Laser series, which offers “cold” cleaning with zero thermal impact on the base material.
How does the cleaning speed compare to sandblasting?
While raw area coverage of sandblasting can be faster, laser cleaning offers superior overall efficiency. Laser cleaning requires zero preparation time (no masking needed), zero media cleanup (no tons of sand waste), and allows parallel work in the dry dock. A 3000W unit can clean heavy rust at approx 40-50m²/h, but the total project turnaround time is often shorter due to reduced setup and cleanup.
Ship hulls are high. How long is the fiber optic cable?
Our standard configuration comes with a 10m or 15m cable. However, for shipyard applications, we offer customized armored fiber cables up to 100 meters. This allows the main unit to stay on the ground or deck while the operator cleans high vertical areas or accesses deep cargo holds.
What are the power requirements? Do you support shipyard voltage standards?
Yes. We understand that shipyards and offshore platforms have specific voltage inputs. We can customize the machine for 380V, 440V, or 480V (3-phase) inputs to match your local grid or generator specifications
Is it difficult to operate? Do we need specialized technicians?
The machine is designed for “Plug and Play.” We provide a preset parameter library for common marine tasks (e.g., “Heavy Rust,” “Paint Removal,” “Propeller Cleaning”). A regular worker can master the operation with just 2-4 hours of training. No complex programming is required.
