It depends on your application. Pulsed Lasers (100W-500W) are for precision: cleaning molds, delicate parts, or thin metals where zero heat damage is required. Continuous (CW) Lasers (1500W-3000W) are high-heat, high-speed workhorses designed for heavy rust removal on thick steel plates (like bridges or ships) where surface texture is less critical.
Will the laser damage the surface of the base metal?
No. When the parameters are set correctly, fiber laser cleaning is non-destructive. The laser beam is tuned to only interact with the contaminants. In fact, laser cleaning is often preferred for high-precision aerospace and automotive components because it doesn't involve the mechanical abrasion of sandblasting or the chemical corrosion of acid washing.
Is laser cleaning safe for the operator?
